The establishment of a wind farm generation station off the North Wales coast requires connection of the output to the National Grid. A new 400 kV substation is proposed with an initial configuration to enable connection of the incoming power via step up transformers to one of the circuits of an existing double circuit 400 kV overhead line. The substation and transmission line development is to include the facility for both circuits of the existing 400 kV overhead line to be turned in in the future. The planned site for the substation is restricted in orientation and area by the proximity of an existing 132 kV overhead line running close to and roughly parallel with the 400 kV line.
LPA reviewed the viable options for the modification of the existing 400 kV overhead line including the positioning, orientation and style of the line terminations for both initial and possible future requirements. |
