Project : Due Diligence - Railways
Client : RPS Engineering and Safety
Location : UK
Period Services Provided : July 2004

Project Summary

The assignment involved an engineering company that carried out the engineering, installation and safety isolation work on the dc and 25 kV overhead catenary power supply systems of Britain's railway network.

Railway work is very strictly controlled and detailed procedures have evolved over the years to cover almost every activity in order to minimise health and safety risks.

Isolations work is fairly routine and repetitive and involves long waiting period between the application of earths and their removal.

LPA carried out a due diligence exercise involving review of procedures and observing an isolation and restoration exercise. The purpose was to be able to confirm that all the required formalities and procedures were implemented in practice so that a better understanding could be gained of the potential risks.
